Jim Robert Jones – Obituary

Jim Robert Jones, age 65, formerly of Florence, Alabama, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Jim was born April 10, 1951, in Florence, Alabama to Robert Houston Jones and Hazel Inez Young Jones. He was a member of the church of Christ and retired from R. J. Reynolds of Winston Salem after 25 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and loving grandfather to whom his grandchildren affectionately called “JimPaw”. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, spending time on the lake with family, and driving his newly restored 1966 Chevelle. He volunteered at the Southmont Food Pantry and was on the Board of Directors at Southmont Fire Deptartment.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Wayne Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jones Olive.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Cossey Jones; daughters, Amy Dianne Whicker (Ladd), of Winston-Salem, and Ashley Jones Scott (Brandon), of Kenly, North Carolina; grandchildren, Landon, Morgan, Emma, and Seth; and a sister, Bobbie Jones, of Florence, Alabama.
