TUPELO, MS –  Spring wildflowers always bloom abundantly in the area we now call the Chickasaw Village Site. Join a park ranger to learn about the plants and flowers that were there when the Chickasaw people lived at the site, find out what plant life was brought in by others who migrated to this area, and join in speculation about the future of this national park site. The Wildflower Walk begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Chickasaw Village Site (milepost 261.8) on the Natchez Trace Parkway, just south of the McCullough Boulevard crossing in Tupelo, Mississippi.

This 1-hour program takes participants on an easy walk through both prairie and forest ecosystems.  Visitors are encouraged to wear long pants, bring insect repellent, sunscreen, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Cameras are welcome.

Visitors may also want to enjoy a special program of dulcimer music provided by the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Parkway Visitor Center on April 1, 2017.

This program is free to the public. The Parkway Visitor Center is located at milepost 266 on the Natchez Trace Parkway near Tupelo, Mississippi. For more information about this and other Parkway programs, please visit our website at www.nps.gov/natr, or call 1-800-305-7417.
