Donald F. Alderete, 83, of Killen died Friday, March 10, 2017, at his residence.

Visitation will be Monday, March 13, 2017, 6-8 PM at Elkins East Chapel.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017, 2 PM at Cliff Haven Church of God of Prophecy, 1601 Andrews Avenue, Sheffield, AL, with Pastor Neal Wright officiating.  Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Alderete was a graduate of Rolling Fork High School, Rolling Fork, MS and Delta State College, MS.  He served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict/War.  He was one of three founding Board Members of Center Star Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a member of Brooks High School Band Boosters and Athletic Booster Clubs.  He was a member of Cliff Haven Church of God of Prophecy.  He was a diehard Alabama football fan, pilot, bass fisherman, football player in high school and college, and played the harmonica.  He loved to travel and was totally devoted to his family and community.

Mr. Alderete was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Kennedy Alderete; parents, Frank Estrada Alderete and Helen McGlothlin Alderete; son, Avery Lynn Alderete; grandsons, Christopher John White and Johnathan Alan Alderete; son-in-law, William Alfred (Al) White, Jr.

Mr. Alderete is survived by his two daughters, Teresa “Sam” White and Belinda Alderete (Alfred); son, Steve Alderete (Sonia); daughter-in-law, Kathy Alderete; grandchildren, Drew and Ali White, Sara McGuire (Dana), Jacob Willis (Racheal), Emmanuel, Elizabeth, and Solomon Aiworo, Adam Alderete (Keisha), Anestassia and Nakwisi Alderete, and Hilaree Tew; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Maci Thompson, Braylin Willis, McKenzie Pendergrass, Emery Alderete, Ben White, Brittany and Kelsey Tew; many nieces and nephews, very special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Lynda Kennedy, and awesome neighbor, Robert and Joyce White with son Marlon.

Pallbearers will be Adam Alderete, Ryan Thompson, Jacob Willis, Marlon White, Danny Gee, and Bob Collins.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Center Star Volunteer Fire Department.
