FLPL to Host Earth Science Exhibit and Series in April and May

FLORENCE –  Just in time for Earth Month, Florence-Lauderdale Public Library will be hosting an exhibit and series all about the planet Earth. Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet will be on display at FLPL from April 1 through May 20 and includes interactive activities related to climate, ecosystems, and more. While the exhibit is on display, FLPL will also host a wide variety of events and programs for kids, teens and adults. These events will explore many earth science topics such as agriculture and weather. The kick-off event will feature eco-entertainer Steve Trash, and other events include book events, crafts, panel discussions, and outdoor activities.

Learn about your planet through interactive games and hands-on activities! Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet makes science fun with a focus on local earth science topics such as weather, the water cycle, and ecosystem changes, as well as a global view of our changing planet.

The Magic of Planet Earth: Cycles, Civilization, & How They Work Together

Come to the library and learn how to do magic with illusionist and eco-entertainer Steve Trash! Not just any old magic, but the best kind: Earth Science-themed magic tricks!  Kids will  perform (and take home!) several cool magic tricks while also learning about the Earth. Green Screen Weather Forecasts
Saturday, April 1, 12:00 pm-2:00 pm

It’s cloudy with a chance of FUN! Families (or anyone)  can make their own weather forecasts using the green screen in The Collaboratory at FLPL. You’ll get a digital copy of your forecast that you can share on social media! For more information, call 256-764-6564, ext. 28.

Caffeine Cinema: Twister (ages 11-16)

Sustainable Agriculture in the Shoals and Beyond (adults and older students)

A panel of farmers, scientists, and agriculture experts will discuss strategies and farming practices that protect the environment, human health, and animal welfare.
