Lona Alibee “Bee” Cole Hammond – Obituary

Lona Alibee “Bee” Cole Hammond, 91, ended her Alzheimers journey on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Bee, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother is survived by her daughter, Shirley Thornton (Richard), her son, Mike Hammond, and three grandchildren she adored and loved, Mattie Poss (Kayne), Callie Thornton, and Cole Thornton. Bee is preceded in death by her husband, James Reeder Hammond, baby brother, Bobby Cole, parents, Herschel Cole and Mattie Eddy Cole. A native of Grassy, Bee and Reeder were owners of Bee’s Bar-B-Que for 25 years and members of First Baptist Church Anderson. Bee, a very special lady loved God and her family. Pallbearers will be grandson, Cole Thornton, grandson in law, Kayne Poss, nephews, Lance Hammond, Jesse Hammond, James Shelton, and Nick Shelton. Visitation will be Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at Loretto Memorial Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00. The funeral service will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 1:30 with Rev. J. D. Harrison and Rev. James Waddell officiating. Burial will follow in Grassy Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation to Virginia Lovell, special friend and caregiver, Dr. William Hobbs and staff, and ECM hospital, especially the ER and 6th floor nurses.
