Carol Diane Smith – Obituary

Carol Diane Smith, 73, of Tuscumbia, AL, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Franklin County, AL, and had lived in Colbert County most of her life. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for Muscle Shoals Aviation and was of the Baptist faith.

Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel in Russellville. Burial will follow at Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville, Alabama. Officiating will be Chip Martin.

Pallbearers will be John Aycock, John David Aycock, Caleb Gilley, Tyler Long, Keith Moore, and Michael Moore. Dan Long, Thomas Long, and Jimmy Martin will be serving as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, William R. Smith; children, Bill Smith and wife Ann and daughter Jill Keller. Survivors also include grandchildren Haley Keller Gilley and husband Caleb and Hannah Keller. A great grandson, Carson Gilley, also survives her. Three sisters, Glenda Long (Dan), Brenda Long (Thomas), and Peggy Martin (Jimmy), survive her as do numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Billy F. and Lillian Aycock, and a brother David Aycock.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Dr. Aaron Karr and Melinda Smith, the hospice nurse.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjudes.org.

Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama, will be assisting the family.
