Shooting Over Night In Tuscumbia…One Dead

TUSCUMBIA-Tuscumbia Police are investigating a shooting that took place early Thursday morning, March 9.

One person is dead after the shooting that took place around 1:30 A.M. at a home on Oak Drive.  Authorities have identified the victim as Derrick Bates, 37.

Tuscumbia police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person dead.

Police identified the victim as Derrick Bates, 37. Bates was found dead in the carport of his home with a gunshot wound to the head.

 According to Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan there is home security video of the incident. Authorities have ruled out robbery and are working on several leads at this time.

The State Bureau of Investigation and Colbert County Sheriff’s Office are helping in the investigation.
