Richard Sidney Gillis, 84, passed away at his home on Monday, March 6, 2017.
Mr. Gillis was a native of Mississippi and had lived in Franklin County, Alabama for the past 48 years. He was a retired boilermaker, Local 455 Muscle Shoals, Alabama, with 32 years of service with TVA. He was a past master at Spruce Pine 608 and Phil Campbell 880. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Cahaba Shrine, Huntsville, and with distinction, a roadrunner with well over 100 trips to Shriners hospitals. His church membership was at Hines Baptist Church.
Visitation for Mr. Gillis will be today at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama, from noon until 2 p.m. with the services immediately following at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial, with Mason rites, will be at Blue Springs Cemetery in Phil Campbell, Alabama. Officiating will be Ricky Mann.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Baker, Nicholas Falletta, Josh Gillis, Bart Gillis, Aaron Gillis, and Austin Prince. Honorary pallbearers include Cody Baker, Blake Jackson, Mackie Gillis, and Daniel Graham.
Mr. Gillis is survived by his wife, Rachel Scott Gillis; children, Barry F. Gillis (Bridget), Randal B. Gillis (Julie), Gina G. Falletta, and Jodi Prince (Anthony); and stepdaughter, Debbie Mann (Ricky); eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren also survive him; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mr. Gillis in death were his parents, Homer and Mamie Gillis; mother of his children, Melba Sue Gillis; son, Richard Stanley Gillis; siblings, Clayton Gillis, Brooks Gillis, James Gillis, Erlice Gillis Gresham, and Mildred Gillis Rorie; and an infant brother and an infant sister.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama, will be assisting the family.
