Billy Cameron, 79, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at his home. Visitation will be from to noon until 2 p.m. today at Lawrence Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Cameron Family Cemetery with Brother Chris Miller and Brother Francis Proctor officiating.
Mr. Cameron served in the Army National Guard before becoming a member of the Lawrence County Commission. He was a retired cattle and poultry farmer and owned the Hatton Farm Supply.
Survivors include his son, Timothy Cameron (Ozell), grandson, Tyler Gooch, and former wife, Annette C. Cameron, all of the Hatton community, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde D. and Lucille McElroy Cameron; brother, Dewayne D. “Rod” Cameron; and sisters, Darlo Casciano and Yvonne Lee.
Pallbearers will be Mike Owens, Randal LouAllen, Tyler Gooch, Joe Cameron, Hollis Stewart, and Larry Hurst. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Vines, Larry Pace, Harold Murphy, Jackie Wright, Ben Phillips, and Don White.
The family gives special thanks to Billy’s sitters Kay Hallmark, Ann Patrick, and Gina Rogers Terry and to Chris Miller and Ben Phillips for their visits and spiritual support.
