ATHENS-Rep. Danny Crawford, R-Athens, came by Athens City Hallto deliver a $2,500 check to Mayor Ronnie Marks for the Scout House renovation project. The TVA-in-lieu-of-tax grant will go toward renovation.

The City of Athens owns the 1930s-era Scout House and has leased it to Athens Arts League with the challenge to renovate the iconic site and re-purpose it into a music venue. Athens Arts League, with assistance from Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful, already raised enough funds to refurbish and landscape the front and is raising funds to refurbish the remainder of the exterior and interior. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are assisting as well.
