Minnie Jean Briscoe, 86, of Town Creek died Tuesday at her home. Her funeral will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Jackson Memory Funeral Home with Brother Rick Gilley officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Minnie Jean was born on March 6, 1930 to Cole J. Young Sr. and Minnie Norene Jeffreys Young. She is survived by her son, Greg Briscoe and daughters, Regina Wilkerson (Mac) and Jennifer Waldrep (Tim); sister, Annie Laura Posey; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a native of Lawrence County and a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Town Creek. Our mother started rejoicing in heaven on Tuesday with her parents, siblings and many family and friends that went on before her. Our mom never met a stranger and loved her God and family dearly. Her passion was her love for the outside. Whether working in the garden, flower bed or just simply yard work, her happiest times were outside. She was taught from a very young age on up to work hard and serve the Lord. Her smile made you smile. She always had her camera with her and loved making pictures even if she had no idea who the people were in the pictures.

Words cannot express our feelings and thanks for people that cared for our mom at home for all these years. A special thanks to Beth, Mary, Jenni and mom’s dear sister, Annie Laura. We could not have done without them. She will be forever in our hearts.

Pallbearers will be, Coleton Briscoe, Luke Briscoe, Britt White, Scott White, Trace White, Drew Waldrep and Austin Waldrep.
