FLORENCE-The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library has planned several days for ‘Flashback Florence Scanning Day’.  Basically, FLPL is  inviting people to be part of their Bicentennial project by bringing family photos and documents to be scanned.  This Scanning Day is just the first of several.  So look for more to come in the near future if you cannot attend this event.

Flashback Florence Scanning Day
Tuesday, March 14, 10:00 am-12:00 pm
at the Burrell Slater Community Education Center

Gather your old photographs, family documents, handwritten recipes, and more, and we’ll make them part of Florence history! In preparation for Florence’s upcoming Bicentennial celebration, Florence-Lauderdale Public Library is hosting scanning days at different venues throughout Florence. All members of the community are invited to bring their old photos and documents to be scanned by our archivists. We will also be recording your stories and information about the items that you bring. These scanned items and the information you provide may be used in the library’s official Bicentennial timeline. We believe that family, church, home life, school, work, and recreation are vital to telling our city’s story, and we need your help to make it happen!

Please note that we are collecting original (not copies) photos and documents for this project. For more information, call 256-764-6564, ext. 23 or 32.
