Monroe Thomas Hallmark – Obituary

Monroe Thomas Hallmark died February 22, 2017 at Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 11:30-1pm at Colbert Memorial with Brother Greg Beasley officiating the funeral at 1pm in the chapel. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by son, Randy Brad Hallmark; parents, Travis and Alma Hallmark; brother, W.T. Hallmark and wife, Avon; and brother-in-law, Roy Thompson, who died on February 19, 2017.

He is survived by son, Ricky Glen Hallmark (Annette) of LaGrange; granddaughter, Madison Hallmark Smoke (Paul); great-granddaughter, Holland Smoke, all of Florence; his sweetheart for the past 24 years, and the love of his life, Mavis Moore of Florence; sister, Barbara Thompson of Muscle Shoals; brother, T.C. Hallmark (Norma) of Muscle Shoals; several nieces, nephews and their spouses; and a host of friends.

Monroe was a member of Valley Grove Baptist of Tuscumbia. He loved the church. A great transformation was seen in Monroe following his conversion to Christ. He loved Brother Greg and the church members and rarely missed a service.

Following his retirement from Reynolds Metals Company in Muscle Shoals, he was a self-employed independent owner/operator truck driver along with his son, Ricky, dba: Hallmark Trucking.

His family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Watson’s Sunday school class and Richard Kuykendall will serve as honorary pallbearers.
