ATHENS-Last Fall, a new program of study was added for the benefit of high school students in Athens and the surrounding area.  The program, Music Entertainment Tour Logistics or METL for short, is taught at Athens Renaissance School two evenings per week.  The program’s creator and instructor is Mr. B. Ashley Swann, a long-time industry professional, whose experience includes working as a Tour Manager, Production Manager and Site Coordinator for many of the Who’s Who of the Entertainment Industry.

Mr. Swann began his career during the mid-sixties music explosion in England.  Since then, his travels, utilizing the skills now being taught in the METL program, have taken him far and wide in many roles, spanning the US, Canada, Europe, Guam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Australia and Bahrain.  Now he is getting an opportunity to share these skills with students taking part in the METL program offered at Athens Renaissance School, through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training.  Students learn how to organize a concert tour the right way, how to effectively complete one, and how to build a successful career in the Music Entertainment Touring Industry.

The first METL class is putting together a professional concert to be held at Athens Renaissance School the evening of March 3rd, 2017.

The Entertainment Line-Up Includes:

  • The Late Evening Crows
  • Lillian Glanton
  • BarCODE (Featuring Key Members of TOBY KEITH’s “Easy Money Band”)

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the concert running from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.  Tickets will be $10 each and will be sold online at www.acsf.acs-k12.org and at the Athens Visitor’s Center on Beaty Street beginning on February 13, 2017.  Only 200 tickets will be made available and they are expected to sell out quickly.
