Mr. Kenneth Ray Butler Jr., age 52, passed away Saturday Feb. 18, 2017. The visitation was Monday, Feb. 20, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence, from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of his life will be today at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, Florence, with Reverend James Storie officiating. The burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. He will lie in repose at the church from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be Bryant Flannigan, Leon Nale, Joe Peeden, Ricky Butler, Billy Smallwood, Cory Poss, Jess Morgan, and Dennis Stutts. Honorary pallbearers are William Vandiver and the employees of Waters Brothers Contractors.

He was a 1982 Coffee High School graduate and attended UNA where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Butler was a member and deacon at First Christian Church in Florence and was also the project manager and estimator at Waters Brothers Contractors in Decatur, Alabama.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of 31 years, Tonitia Brackin Butler; son, Andrew Butler; parents, Kenneth and Barbara Butler; sister, Melissa White (Carl); grandmother, Ruby Butler; mother-in-law, Ruby Nell Brackin; sister-in-law, Trudy Lyle (Michael); brother-in-law, William Brackin (Carol); nieces, Tricia Wall (Frank), Megan Poss (Cory), and Allison Morgan (Jess); nephews, Jon Brackin and Robert Brackin; great-nieces, Shaylee Brackin and Vivian Poss; and great-nephew, Will Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, B.H. Brackin; grandfather, Paul Butler; grandparents, Melvin and Hazel Stutts; and nephew, Jason Lyle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or a charity of your choice.
