John Earl Reeves, Jr. – Obituary

John Earl Reeves, Jr., 72, of Cherokee, AL, passed away at home February 19th, 2017 surrounded by family and friends after an extended illness. He was born July 11th, 1944 in Waynesboro, TN. He worked as a barber in Nashville, TN, construction work in Nebraska, Orba Transhipment in Tuscumbia, Al, Rogers LP Gas and Clark Gas delivering propane. John never met a stranger and had a unique way of making everyone feel special. His favorite past time was fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents J.E. and Tiny Reeves; stepsons John and Doug Bockus; and step granddaughter Chelsea Neill.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Sue McVay Reeves of Cherokee; son Dennis Reeves of Old Hickory, TN; daughter Lajauna (Scott) Reeves of Donelson, TN; stepson, Jim Bockus of Cherokee; sister, Ramona (Dave) Scothern of Daphne, AL; 3 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 5 great-grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters; 3 nieces; 3 great-nieces; and 1 great-great nephew.
The visitation will be Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tony Datuin will be officiating the funeral service on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Scott Reeves, Justin Reeves, Cody James, Greg Cornelius, Greg Waldrep, and Harrel Fowlkes.
