Avaleen Perry Harwell – Obituary

Avaleen Perry Harwell died peacefully at her home in Lawrenceburg, on Friday, February 17, 2017.  She was 96 years old.

Mrs. Harwell (Muv as she was known to her grandchildren), was born January 26, 1921, in Rogersville, Alabama, to her parents Morris Clinton Perry and Addie Velma Weathers Perry.  She married the Honorable Judge William Alton (Bud) Harwell June 19, 1938.  She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother as well as homemaker and owner of The Happy Cook, a gourmet cooking shop in Lawrenceburg.  She was a faithful member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Harwell was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and husband.

She is survived by four daughters, Cathey McClew (Doug) of Charlotte, NC, Cherie Plant (Paul), Christy Bottoms (Mike), and Catie Harwell, all of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren, Perry McClew, Sara Plant Williams, Michel Claire Bottoms Bayer (Jeff), Jonathan Paul Plant (Jody), William Bottoms (Caroline), and Miles Bottoms (Cassondra); and eight great-grandchildren, Douglas McClew, Hope McClew, Susie Williams, Oliver Bottoms, Kensley Bottoms, Augustus Bottoms, Paxton Bottoms and Avington Bottoms.

Honorary pallbearers are caregivers and sitters who so lovingly cared for Mrs. Harwell these last years.  Pallbearers are Jonathan Paul Plant, William Bottoms, Miles Bottoms, Jeff Bayer, and Douglas McClew.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church, Lawrenceburg Public School, Lawrence County Public Library or Crockett Theatre Board.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Monday, February 20, 2017, with Rickey Wade, Chris Blalock, and Chad Moore officiating.  Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
