Patricia Ann Vinson Shewbart – Obituary

Patricia Ann Vinson Shewbart, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at ECM Hospital, Florence, Alabama. She was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Franklin County to Homer A. “Buck” and Meadie Vinson. She was raised in the Halltown community until her marriage to James Carl Shewbart Sr. on March 28, 1952.

She attended Red Bay High School and graduated from University of Montevallo and Florence State College. She attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Auburn University. She taught school for 31 years at Speake and Lawrence County Tech. She was an avid Auburn fan. She loved camping, people and talking, and never met a stranger. She loved raising cattle on the farm and growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. She was multi-talented playing piano by ear, singing, sewing, cooking and most any of the work on the farm. She spent many hours teaching during the regular school day and at night to help adults learn to cook and sew.

Services will be Saturday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, Alabama, with Brother Danny Stanford officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery, Red Bay, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Carl Shewbart Sr., Vina, Alabama; two sons, James Carl Shewbart Jr., Vina, Alabama, and Mike Shewbart, Red Bay, Alabama; one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Bolton (Robbie), Russellville, Alabama; grandchildren, Bart Bolton (Melissa), Russellville, Alabama, Hannah Parker (Jamison), Nettleton, Mississippi, Rachel Shewbart, Hamilton, Alabama, Casey Bolton, Russellville, Alabama, Jesse Shewbart, Cullman, Alabama, Jacas Shewbart, Cullman, Alabama, Brooke Shewbart, Red Bay, Alabama, and Lane Shewbart, Red Bay, Alabama; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Harbin, Zavier Bolton, Sawyer Bolton, and Emmalyn Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eloise Bolding, Oniece Hughes, Royce Vinson, Elmer Vinson, and Homer Vinson.

Pallbearers will be Bart Bolton, Casey Bolton, Lane Shewbart, Jamison Parker, Jacas Shewbart, and Glen Vinson.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 1-3 p.m., at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Burnout Missionary Baptist Church or an organization of your choice.
