Second Arrest Made In Theft Of Stolen Car In Florence

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department made a second arrest in the theft of a city auto.  The Arrest was made on Thursday, February 9:

Shaun Ryan

“Shaun Ryan was arrested Thursday as part of the vehicle theft we reported yesterday , Thursday,February 9. He was found to be in the vehicle that was stolen and property from the victim was found in his possession. He is currently in jail without bond pending a revocation hearing this morning. He was out of jail on bond on a separate case and the State has moved to revoke that bond as a result of his new charges.”

Yesterday, February 9  Arrest made in theft of auto update:

David Stapleton

“David Stapleton is the only arrest that jumps out. Yesterday our traffic division was conducting a safety checkpoint on Royal Ave, near Royal Recreation Center. Mr. Stapleton drove up to the check point in a stolen vehicle. Officers had been on the lookout for the vehicle for the last several days after it was stolen from the Florence. Stapleton was also found to be in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and charged. He is currently in jail on bond totaling $9,000. This case is still under investigation and additional arrests are likely.”
