Beatrice Ann Keating – Obituary

Beatrice Ann Keating age 82 a 53 year resident of Lanham, MD, went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2017 after and eighteen month illness.
Beatrice was born in Brookside, AL on July 21, 1934 to John and Anna Sokira, and was the youngest of eleven children. She attended and graduated from Brookside High School. After raising her family, she worked as a receptionist at the University of Maryland from 2000 to 2015 in the Communication and Business Services Department.
Beatrice was an active member of the New Carrollton Boys & Girls Club, as a coach for the girl’s softball team. Her most memorable year was when they won the County championship. She will, however, be most fondly remembered by those knew her as a caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, “Emaw”.
Beatrice is survived by her beloved husband, William J. Keating, whom she married in 1957. She is also survived by her children, William A. Keating (Mary) of New London, CT, Barbara A. Unterwagner (Joe) of Bristol, TN, Beverly A. Russell (Michael) of Kent Island, MD, Brenda A. Keating of Anchorage, AK, Bridgett A. Keating of Williamsburg, VA and Shane P. Keating (Jean) of Crofton, MD. Beatrice also leaves behind her 11 grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, Christopher, William, Cory, Cara, Henry, Mariah, Josh, Zeke and Brittnay, with whom she had a special relationship.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 301 Shamrock Trail Adamsville, AL 35005, with interment to follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Brookside.
