Mary Margaret Muhs Bogardus – Obituary

Mary Margaret Muhs Bogardus, 74, died Thursday, January 26, 2017. Mary was born o February 3, 1942 in North Tonawanda, New York and grew up in Detroit and Camp Pioneer in Angola, NY. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod). Mary graduated from Lake Shore High School in Angola, NY and attended Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska and the University of Buffalo. “Muffie”, nicknamed by her dad during WWII, enjoyed working in her rose garden, going on shopping trips with her daughters, Tamara and Heather, traveling with her sister Frieda and good friend Betty, and hanging out with her 4 grandsons. She is survived by her husband of 45 years George (GB) Bogartus of Saltillo; two daughters, Tamara Godbold (Gerald) and Heather Mallette (Eric Wages); four grandsons, Grayson, Griffen, Weston and Waylen; two sisters Frieda Barnes (Bob) of Alva, FL, who was not only her sister but was also her best friend, encourager, comforter and cared for her during her many years of illnesses, and Helen Crimmel of Greenville, TN.; two nieces, Nicole Myers and Melissa Morris. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Walter Cooley Muhs and Mary Hectorine (Rosie) Lavigne Muhs. There will be no viewing but a Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 30, 2017 at East Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Bob Stewart; her guarding angel, Eve Harris; BNF nurses Teresa Johnson and Debbie Dean, the CNA’s, the supporting staff and all residents; CCU nurse “CC”; three west nurses Brandi, Zoltan and all personnel. Each one was placed in Mary’s path by the Lord for a special reason. In lieu of flowers, Flowers gratefully declined, memorials may be made to the Big Oak Ranch PO Box 507 Springville, AL 35146.
