Barbara Jean Burt-Suggs – Obituary

Barbara Jean Burt-Suggs, 74, born to the late Percy and Viola Burt on April 9, 1942, in Town Creek, Alabama. She was educated in the Colbert County school system. She worked many years at Monarch Tile until retirement.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was an extraordinary cook and loved meeting new people. She also enjoyed watching Westerns on TV and being a mentor to the young.

She was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Mother of the Church and chairperson of the hospitality committee and mass choir.

She leave to cherish her memories a devoted and truly committed loving husband of over 50 years, Willie E. Suggs Jr., of Sheffield; two daughters, Deloris (Charles) Jarmon and Dorothy (Keith) Abernathy, both of Muscle Shoals; and two sons, Lechester Suggs, of Sheffield, and Thomas (Angela) Suggs, of Madison, Alabama.

Public viewing is today, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Visitation with the family is today, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Funeral is Saturday Jan. 28, 2017, noon, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals.

Interment is in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Reverend Roger Pride is officiating.

Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Sheffield, is directing.
