ATHENS-Back by popular demand, the Athens-Limestone Community Association brings back the play “Arise and Build.” There will be four performances beginning Friday, February 3 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, February 4 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, February 5 at 3 p.m. at Friendship Church, 16479 Lucas Ferry Road in Athens. Tickets are $25 and can be bought in Athens at the Sweetest Things Tea Room and Square Clock Coffee, in Tanner at Head 2 Toe Salon and in Huntsville at Verge Beauty Salon.
To give everyone a sample of the play the cast from “Arise and Build” singing at Monday night’s Athens City Council meeting to promote the upcoming production that shares the story of Trinity/Fort Henderson (slave to soldier to student); and raises funds for the community center built on the site. This play is based on local author Charlotte Fulton’s book “Holding the Fort.”
