Almon Truitt – Obituary

Almon Truitt, age 94, of Florence passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Edgemont United Methodist Church of Florence. Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Chris Montgomery and Rev. Steven Barber officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery. Elkins Funeral Home of Florence in charge.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marguerite Truitt; his parents, Robert and Missouri Truitt; his brothers, Doyce ,Royce, and Lendon Truitt; sisters, Verna Hammond and Etha king.

Almon is survived by his son, Jerry R. Truitt (Becky) of Jasper, GA, and his daughter, Bobbie Smith (Tom) of Corinth, MS. Four granddaughters: Jennifer Lamb (Steve) of Memphis, TN, Mandy Taylor (Drew) of Scott AFB, IL, Lesley Wainwright (Trey) of Atlanta, GA, and Jessica Hudson (Jason) of Collierville,TN. And eight great-grandchildren: Carter and Lucy Lamb, Truitt and Braden Taylor, Ali and Couper Wainwright and Will and Caroline Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Truitt was born and raised in Lexington, AL. He served in the United States Army and he returned to begin a long career as a car salesman in Florence. Almon was an active member of Edgemont United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Gentiva Home Health and Hospice and Penny Morgan, his caregiver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Edgemont United Methodist Church of Florence.
