Verna Gallien Wilson Dicus – Obituary

Mrs. Verna Gallien Wilson Dicus departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home in Florence, Alabama at the age of 96 years. She was the daughter of the late Newt Napoleon and Cynthia Martin Gallien. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dicus was preceded in death by her first husband, Deward Wilson; brother, Earl Gallien (Helen); and sisters, Vera Gallien Grimes (Robert) and Era Gallien.

She was united in marriage to Bill Dicus on Aug. 15, 2004.

Mrs. Dicus was retired from Genesco. She was a member of the Salem Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Dicus, of Florence, Alabama; son, Randy Wilson, of Zip City, Alabama; daughters, Brenda (Wilson) Benavente, of Tuscon, Arizona; stepson, Keith Dicus (Tammy), of Collinwood, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Cindy Lee (Jeff), of Collinwood, Temmessee, Lisa Phillips (Mike), of St. Joe, Tennessee, Delesea Burleson (Ronnie), of Collinwood, Tennessee, and Peachy Ayers, of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Randall Wilson (Heather), Anthony Benavente II (Jeanie), Dahlia Benavente Scarborough, and Dominic Benavente; and seven stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Shackelford Home in Collinwood, Tennessee with Tim Hanback officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m. until service time, at Shackelford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tennessee.
