Washington, D.C. — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) today released the following statement on House passage of S. Con. Res. 3, Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for FY 2017.
“Before it even became law, Americans voiced their concern and displeasure with Obamacare. The law, passed in 2010 without a single Republican vote, has never been favored by a majority of Americans. Today, I joined my Republican colleagues in voting for the first step to repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act under a new Trump administration.
“The law, by its very name, was intended to make healthcare more affordable, but it has done the exact opposite. Premiums and deductibles have gone sky high, while choices in plans, doctors and healthcare facilities have dropped. I have heard first hand, how time and time again, Obamacare has been a prescription of empty promises, chief among them, ‘if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.’”
“We can do better than Obamacare and I fully expect we will. My Republican colleagues and I are working on a plan that will lower the average family’s healthcare premium by $2500 per year. Today’s vote was the first step in making healthcare affordable again.”
