Ruby Lee McWhorter – Obituary

Ruby Lee McWhorter, 87 years old of Moulton, Alabama passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home.

Visitation will be held  at Moulton Church of Christ Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM with O.D. Bowling, Bill Becker and Ricky McWhorter officiating.   Burial will follow at Moulton Memory Gardens.  Lawrence Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.  Pallbearers will be Sam Compton, Les Blevins, Joe Paul Blevins, William McWhorter, Dan James, Jeremy Phillips, Blaine Shelton and Heath Darnell.

 

Ruby Lee was born in Moulton to Hoyt and Fairby Butler on February 11, 1929.  She attended Wolf Springs School in her early days and later graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1946.  She was a member of Fairfield Church of Christ in Moulton.  She enjoyed most of all spending time with her family and through that taught us all the meaning of patience and love.  She will be greatly missed.

Ruby Lee is preceded in death by her parents; Hoyt and Fairby Copeland Butler and stepmother; Sally Butler; two brothers; Connie and Grady Butler, a sister; Girthie McGregor and a grandchild; Suzanne Blevins.

Ruby Lee is survived by her husband: Ray McWhorter, two sons; Tim (Melba) McWhorter and Ricky (Sherry) McWhorter; two daughters; Shelia (Boyd) Compton and Reta (Buster) Blevins; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

The family wished to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley and all those who loved and supported her in the last days.
