Betrice “Bea” Huffstutler Anderson – Obituary

Betrice “Bea” Huffstutler Anderson, 90, died peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017. She was born in Jasper on Sept. 1, 1926, to the late James Matthew and Mary Lillian Huffstutler. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Wilson Allen Anderson; her sisters, Artie Kratsas; and brothers, Roy Huffstutler and John Huffstutler. She is survived by her sisters, Essie Huffstutler Hill and Francis Huffstutler Murray; children, Patricia Anderson (Pat) Mathis, Evelyn Anderson Paterson (Charles) of Birmingham and Charles Allen Anderson (Katherine) of Somerset, Kentucky; grandchildren, Vernon Anderson (Andy) Mathis (Julie), Rebecca Paterson Simon (Linda Peacock) of Birmingham and Wilson Allen Anderson II (Gayla) of Lexington, Kentucky; and great-grandchildren, Max and Miller Simon and Jack and Charlie Mathis.

Bea was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she was very involved in women’s ministries. She and Wilson enjoyed gardening together and took such pride in growing and sharing their beautiful peonies and roses. Bea’s greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family.

The family would like to thank Carol Bess, her wonderful caregiver, for her compassion, friendship and skilled assistance, as well as Hospice of the Valley for making her final days peaceful and comfortable.

Graveside services for the immediate family will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11th at 1 p.m. in Jasper. Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Decatur.
