Mary Lee Rhea Cheatham of Pulaski passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee.She was born on December 8, 1929 in Lynnville, Tennessee and was 87 years old.
Mary Lee attended school in Waco, TN Giles County. She was a dedicated employee who worked and served 54 years at Physicians & Surgeons Medical Clinic, in Pulaski, TN, Giles County until she retired on June 30, 2012. Mary Lee accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Happy Hill Baptist Church in Lynnville. Upon moving to Pulaski, she united with Campbell Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in the early sixties and was a dedicated member of Campbell Chapel AME Church in Pulaski TN, Giles County for more than 55 years where she served on several church ministries. She enjoyed shopping, serving others and spending time with family.
The visitation will be 4 o’clock until 8 o’clock Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, January 4th from 11:00 until 12:00 with the funeral service following at 12 o’clock at the Campbell Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Campbell Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church c/o 311 Mill Street Pulaski, TN 38478
She is survived;
Her loving and faithful daughter, Asieren (Jesse) Boyce
Three grandchildren, Rosalind (Albert Sr.) Walden, Adrienne (Timothy) Hendrix and Lemart (Jennifer) Boyce.
Five great grandchildren, Antonio Cantrell, Efrem McGee, Kristen (Marques) Santiago), Albert Walden, Jr. and Brandon McGee; three great-great grandchildren, Marques Santiago Jr., Albert “Tre” Walden III, and Izaiah Santiago.
Mary Lee always held a special place in her heart for surviving nieces and nephews; Reverend James Odell Gordon, Dorothy Jean Simms, Norma Jean James, Carolyn Jean, “Cat” Boyd, Steven Henry Rhea, Constance Ann Brown, Stanley Wayne (Archie) Braden, Sharon Denise Garrett; Marty Rhea and Derrick Doran Rhea. She also treasured nieces Joann Toney, Wynetta Turner and Joyce Eggleston, a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends that will truly miss her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mackie ’Morris” Rhea. Her siblings, Mabel McMillion, Alton Rhea, Sadie Adkins, Mattie Lou Smith, Cliffie Rhea and Ellen Rhea.
