Frances K. Adams – Obituary

Frances K. Adams 94, of Brentwood, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 28, in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Adams was born in Durham, NC, on July 28, 1922. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred G. Adams; her parents, William Q. King and Rosa Griffin King; and her brother, Brinkley.
She graduated from Braggtown High School in 1941. In October 1942, she married Alfred G. Adams of Durham, NC, which began a long and happy marriage of almost 68 years, until his death in September 2010. During World War II, while her husband served overseas in the Navy, Mrs. Adams provided support on the home front through the USO (Travelers Aid Association).
After the war, she devoted her efforts to homemaking for the family as her husband’s career with Sears led them to Memphis, TN; Bowling Green, KY; Huntsville, AL; Richmond, VA; and Nashville, TN.
Mrs. Adams loved gardening, cooking and baking and delighted in sharing her breads and creations with others. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the lake home in Guntersville, AL, that she and her husband owned for more than 55 years.
She was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and the Faith Inquiry Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her son, Alfred Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sarah Adams, of Atlanta, GA.; daughter, Marsha Davis of Columbia, SC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jonnie and Tal Smith of Sugar Land, TX; brother, Frank King of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Patrick and Jeff Adams (Hilary), Ben Davis (Ashley) and Katherine Watson (Graham); great-grandsons, Davis Watson and Harding Davis; nieces and nephews, Betty Youman, Brinkley and Ronnie King, and Valerie and Randy Smith.
On Thursday, January 5, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL, with Reverend Jeff Wilson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brentwood United Methodist Church, 309 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027.
The family is very appreciative of the prayers and support of wonderful neighbors and friends.
