Charles L. McClure – Obituary

Charles L. McClure, 72, of Florence, AL, passed away on December 19, 2016 peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and dear friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on December 22, 2016 at Killen Church of Christ. Brother Stan Dean will be officiating. Visitation will be held at the church preceding the funeral from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the funeral at Greenview Cemetery.

Pall Bearers will be Brandon McClure, Blake McClure, Jerry Dean, Jimmy Holt, Jim Smith, Bobby Holley, M.Q. Parker, and Max Driggers. Elders of Killen Church of Christ will be Honorary Pallbearers.

Charles was born in Florence, Alabama on May 8, 1944. He graduated from Mars Hill Bible School in 1962. Charles was married to Judy McClure (Mitchell). They were married 52 years.

Charles retired from International Paper where he worked as an Electrician. He was a member of the IBEW local 558. He enjoyed fishing, boating, watching Auburn football, and playing cards and golf with his wife and friends. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He was a strong man of faith and served at Killen Church of Christ. He was well loved and respected by his church family.

Charles is survived by his wife, Judy McClure; his two children, Mickey McClure and his wife Jo Lynn, Brit McClure and his wife Jena, and his 5 grandchildren Sara, Brandon, Blake, Hannah and Katherine; his 2 sisters, Nancy Sharp and Betty Parks (Bob).

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Marie McClure.
