FLORENCE-Two cases of possible child neglect/endangerment are under investigation by the Florence Police Department:

“Taylor Carpenter- Ms. Carpenter was arrested on warrants. She is accused of giving birth to a child who tested positive for narcotics. DHR is involved and the child has been placed with other family members pending the outcome of this investigation. Ms. Carpenter is confined on bond totaling $5,000.  She has been charged with Exposing Children to Narcotics”

“Trevon McCoy and Marilyn Russell- On 09/23/16 officers responded to Hermitage Oaks Apartments regarding the welfare of children. Upon arriving at

the apartment the officers noticed the strong smell of narcotics. McCoy, Russell, and a small child were present in the home at the time of our arrival. A search of the home followed and revealed a large quantity of drugs. McCoy and Russell were arrested and the child was placed in a safety plan through DHR.  McCoy has been charged with Inlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Exposing Children to Narcotics and Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Drug.  Russell has been charged with Exposing Children to Narcotics, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Possession of Drug Parasphernalia and Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Drug.”
