Barbara Wesson Sykes, age 80, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 25, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ellis Coats officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Lauderdale County and married the love of her life, Bobby June Sykes, on Sept. 11, 1953, and with him they had five amazing children. They were married for 61 wonderful years. She was a member of Cross Point Church of Christ and was a loving Christian mom and grandma.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Evelyn Wesson; husband, Bobby J. Sykes; daughter, Wanda Sykes Elias; sons, Bobby Rae Sykes and Phil Sykes; brother, Bobby Carrol Wesson.
Survivors include her sons, Robert “Billy” Sykes (Teresa) and Walter Sykes (Angela); grandchildren, Tommie Elias, Michael Elias, Joshua Sykes, Justin Sykes (Tiffany), Cory Sykes, Christopher Sykes (Sara), and Chad Sykes (Erin); and great-grandchildren, Taylor Elias, Ella Elias, Eli Sykes, and Beck Elias.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shoals.
