Robert Eugene “Bob” Flippo, age 85, of Florence, passed away Aug. 26, 2016. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 29, from 2-4 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Neal Wright officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Jones Hill Cemetery in Florence. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Flippo was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion of Florence for 64 years. He was a member of Cliff Haven Church of God and was retired from the City of Florence with the sewer and water board, and was also a carpenter and a security guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Cora Flippo; and a son, Richard Flippo, and numerous brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Waller Flippo; children, Ed Flippo, Don Flippo (DeAnna), and Donna Lee (Michael); grandchildren, Courtney McKay (Cody), Mallory Chandler (Randy), Hunter Flippo, Ben Flippo, Chase Lee and Bethany Lee; great-grandchildren, Lily Chandler and Lucy Chandler; and sister, Opal McGee.
