Helen Oaks Abernathy age 97 of Athens, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Abernathy was born November 27, 1918 in Lauderdale County, AL to William Henry Oakes and Anna Belue Oaks.
Services will be Monday, August 29, 2016 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bobby Marks officiating. Visitation will be Monday, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Oaks; husband, John Haden Abernathy; grandson, Bill Harper; three brothers, Hiram, Isaac and Henry Oaks.
Survived by two daughters, Cora Ann Bailey and husband, James of Athens and Sue Harper and husband, Gerald of Pulaski, TN; one son, Johnny Abernathy and wife, Carol of Leggtown, AL; three sisters, Bobbie Pressnell of Athens, AL, Peggy Read of Atlanta, GA and Jean Murphy of Pleasant Grove, AL.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hawie, Keith Hawie, Craig Hardaway, Bryan Abernathy, John Harper, Steve Abernathy and Will Foster.
