Henry Cecil Stephens – Obituary

Mr. Henry Cecil Stephens, 82 of Centre, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Centre Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include a son, Richard Stephens of Glencoe; daughters, Cathy (Steve) Ford of Cheyenne, WY, Stephanie Stephens of Glencoe, Debra Gray of Glencoe, Kim (Dennis) McGoan of Cookeville, Sherri (Jim) Savage of Hoover and LaRilda (Doug) VanSandt of Centre; sister, Vinnie Mae Hare of Glencoe; grandchildren, Wes (Laney) Savage, Cassi Savage, Rachel (Jason) Stephens, Judd (Brittany Watson) VanSandt, Megan (Robbie) Willis; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty S. Stephens and brothers, R.C. and L.V. Stephens.

Mr. Stephens was a native of Etowah County, the son of the late James Virgil and Etta Bishop Stephens and was a Navy Veteran. He was retired from Goodyear and was a retired congregational holiness pastor.

Pallbearers include: Ivory Starr, Jimmy Williams, Eddie Williams, Dennis McGoan, Robert Patton and Tommy Price
