Elizabeth Compton Jones, 65, died July 22, 2016. The gathering of friends will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents, Theo M. and June H. Compton.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, David Jones; son, John Maynor (Kristi); grandchildren, John Maynor, Jacob Maynor, and Kaylee Maynor, Samuel Jones, Kayla Hepner, Hannah Hepner, Olivia Brathwaite; sister, Linda Turner (DeWayne), numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elizabeth had an infectious smile and laugh that simply brought joy to everyone around her. She was loved dearly by all that knew her. A love for children led her to teach elementary school for over twenty-five years in the Morgan County School System. A love of performing brought her great joy in performances in the local theater group. She grew up attending Ninth Street United Methodist Church, and the joy of song brought her many happy hours in the choir of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This can be done at their website, www.cff.org.
