Marcia McCalpin – Obituary

mariciaMarcia McCalpin was born Sept. 25, 1944, and passed beautifully from this life on Monday, June 21, 2016.
She was born and raised in Franklin County, Alabama. A graduate of Phil Campbell High School, she was voted most mischievious and also friendliest by her classmates. She graduated from the Hairstyling Academy in 1967 and during her career won numerous awards. She became a member of the elite Alabama Hair Fashion Committee and was elected to the Alabama Cosmetology board of directors several times.
In 1985, she moved to Vero Beach, Florida where she lived for 18 years. She was a member of the Florida Hair Fashion Committee and taught advanced cosmetology to record crowds. While a member of the Florida committee, she was also a judge for international competitions. Among her many famous clients were George Wallace when he first ran for governor and visited Franklin County to campaign, Tommy LaSorda, Patricia Neal, and the man who coined the phrase “plastic money” back in the 70s, Don Mix.
She attended First Baptist Church of Florence.
There will be no service. Cremation will be handled by Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Florence Building Fund or to the charity of ones choice in memory of Marcia McCalpin.
