Jeff Ayers, Burly Guitars, presents his custom designed guitar to Travis Wammack at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame

TUSCUMBIA – Probably the most celebrated guitar virtuoso living here in Muscle Shoals, Travis Wammack already has quite a collection of guitars. His career, spanning the 1960’s through today, is recognized around the world.

And yesterday, he was presented with a beautiful custom-designed axe like nothing else in his treasury of world class instruments. The guitar was created by a Wisconsin artisan, Jeff Ayers. His website is Burly GuitarsThe story as to how this all came about revolves around a recording session for Wisconsin guitarist, Howard “Guitar” Luedtke, who was in town last year. Ludke, himself a great guitar player, has all his life been a fan of Wammack. And while they were recording the album over at Donnie and Jan Gullett’s studio in Tuscumbia, the guitar-maker became a topic of discussion. And, as it is said, the rest is history.

The Quad-Cities Daily was on hand at the Hall of Fame for the presentation. Here are the photos.
