Thelma Jewel McGee Thompson 84, of Waynesboro, TN was born January 24, 1932 in Collinwood, TN the daughter of the late John Jr. and Pearl Dixon McGee. She was married to William Edd Thompson July 3, 1946. He preceded her in death March 4, 1999. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Wayne Turnbo, sister, Prebble Harvey, two brothers, Lloyd G. and Frank McGee. She was a cashier at E.W. James and a member of Green River Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons, Eddie Wayne Thompson and wife Margaret of Iron City, TN, Daniel Alan Thompson and wife Susan of Wilmington, NC, Marcus Wendell Thompson and wife Patti of Athens, AL, daughters, Brenda Jane Turnbo of Waynesboro, TN and Phyllis Elaine Parkes and husband Russ of Columbia, TN, eight grandchildren, Susan McClanahan, David Turnbo, Madonna Thompson, Shelaine Powell, Haley Moorehead, Lee Thompson, Brent Baltzer, and Terah Beth Varga, 14 great grandchildren, a sister, Dixie Canby of Johnstown, PA.
Services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with David B. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Shields Cemetery near Waynesboro with Shackelford funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-8:00 PM and Monday from 8: AM until service time at the funeral home.
