Needlework Exhibit Opening At TVAA Drawing Class For Teens

TUSCUMBIA-The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art will have a showing by local artist Mary Lou Robbins.  The opening of the exhibit will be Sunday May 22.  Also Mary Carpenter will coduct a drawing class for young people from June 7 through the 10.

brings 50 years of needlework experience to her exhibit, Art of Needlework, at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art.
The Art of Needlework exhibition will display over 30 wool, cotton and silk works using a wide variety of stitches, including basketweave and cross stitch to cathedral window, smyrna combo and triple cross.unnamed (2)

The Tuscumbia native’s work has been displayed at the White House and the United Nations.
The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art will host an opening of the Art of Needlework exhibit on Sunday, May 22 from 1-3 p.m.

Mary Lou Robbins will be on hand to give a gallery talk and meet and discuss her work with visitors.
Please come. Open to all. Admission is free.

 

 

Internationally known portrait artist, Martha Carpenter

will conduct a drawing class for young people ages 16 – 20 at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art on the foundations of drawing. Foundation drawing is a basic practice that underlies all visual art making.

Students will investigate the basic elements of visual language including mark, line, gesture, contour, edge, value, form, volume, mass, density, space through a series of observations and exercises.
