Earthmonth-logoFLORENCE – The April First Fridays is set for Friday, April 1, and we’re not foolin’; it’s going green in honor of Earth Month. The event is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, in historic downtown Florence.
“Earth Month is always a popular theme,” said First Fridays Co-chairwoman Jennifer Smith. “We hear from folks all the time who tell us how much they enjoy going green this time of year and getting ready for spring.”
As part of the Go Green theme, representatives from the Lauderdale County Extension Service will be on hand, along with Keep the Shoals Beautiful, the Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and the Eco-Smart Unit.
Music will kick off on the Big River Broadcasting Stage at 5 p.m. with Drumb and Drumber; they’ll be followed at 6 p.m. by the Jackson Tyler Band and at 7 p.m. by Cheap Thrill Deville.
“In April, people tend to think about getting out more and enjoying the sunshine and the spring weather,” said event Co-chairwoman Belinda Duke. “What better way to do that than to attend First Fridays and to enjoy the music as well as the shopping opportunities from our vendors as well as local shops and boutiques?”
Dozens of vendors are expected to line Court Street as part of First Fridays. Expect to see hand-crafted wood items, unique jewelry, fine and folk art and all things in between, Duke said.
First Fridays, which is sponsored by Listerhill Credit Union, is a committee of Downtown Florence Unlimited and takes place the first Friday of every month during March through December.
