2012 W. C. Handy Music Festival Poster

THE SHOALS – The W.C. Handy Music Festival gets better every year it seems. This year is no exception. Street music, listening rooms, parks, office buildings and eating and drinking establishments have been filled so far this week with great music. And the best part of it all… things are just heating up.

The Quad-Cities Daily wants to make our readers aware of a very special event this Thursday evening at The Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa’s Conference Center. It’s Christine Ohlman, Beehive Queen of Saturday Night Live, and FAME Studio Legends, The Decoys, at 8 o’clock. Don’t miss it! This is Christine’s 2nd appearance at The W.C. Handy Music Festival. Obviously, The Shoals couldn’t get enough of her blusey tunes and her amazing voice the last time. Christine got her nickname, “Beehive Queen”, for her radical platinum beehive hairdo.

Also playing with The Decoys Thursday night will be legendary Sun Records drummer, James “J.M.” Van Eaton.

This is a dance concert, so if you feel like it, bring your dancing shoes. Proceeds from the show will benefit The Muscle Shoals Music Association (MSMA).

Tickets are $10.00 at the door.
