Jimmie Lance “Marty” Morrison – Obituary

jimmieJimmie Lance “Marty” Morrison passed away at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital on January 20, 2016 after an extended illness. Marty was a native of Cloverdale, Ala.  He spent his adult life playing music and he was a very talented musician. He played all over the United States and overseas with Jerry Lee Lewis. He also had a 7 year Hall of Fame career with country music star Freddie Hart as a member of the “Hart Beats” He formed his own band and played all over during the 1980’s and 1990’s.  Later due to health reasons, he moved home.

So many people enjoyed his entertaining personality while playing with the “Five Jets” especially during the W.C. Handy festival and also with Wayne Southerland and the “Showtime Band.”

A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Church of Christ on February 11, 2016 at 11: 00 a.m.

“Marty” was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Vernon Morrison; mother, Cornelia Lovelace Byrd; and his grandparents, Homer and Clara Lovelace.

Survivors include his sister, Jeanie Ann Pollard and his brothers, J.R. Byrd and Randy Byrd.
