A celebration of life for Roylean Virginia Long Lewis will be held Sunday Dec. 13, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Harold Thompson and Brother Scottie Reeves officiating. Visitation will be from noon until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Lewis passed from this earthly life, to her heavenly home Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Mrs. Lewis was born May 1, 1924 to Roy G. Long and Mamie Roberts Long Copeland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie A. Lewis; parents; brother, John D. Long and stepfather, Miller Copeland.
She was a longtime member of Neel United Methodist Church and a graduate of Morgan County High School Class of 1943. She retired from Fly Manufacturing and was also a member of the greatest generation, as she worked during World War II building B-24 Liberator Bombers at the Ford Willow Run Plant in Detroit.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Lewis (Betty), Ronnie Lewis (Brenda), Randy Lewis (Vicki); one daughter, Mickey Sparkman Swanner (Don); all of Hartselle; seven grandchildren, Amy Wright, David Lewis, Jeremy Sparkman, Brian Sparkman, Audrey Crowe, Hope Lewis, Caleb Lewis; 12 great-grandchildren; and stepbrother, Ted Copeland of Petersburg, Michigan.
Pallbearers will be David Lewis, Jeremy Sparkman, Brian Sparkman, Caleb Lewis, Shane Wright and Eddie Crowe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lewis, Gary Long, David Puckett and Dan Sparkman.
A special thank you to Dr. Rodney Harney for his kindness and compassionate care he provided to our family and for our mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorial donations be made to Neel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6991 Danville Road, Hartselle, Alabama 35640 or to Hospice of the Valley. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
