Gladys-Smith-1448109580Gladys Ellen Faulkner Smith, 86, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. She was born in Alcorn County, MS on October 21, 1929 to the late Thelmer and Marie (Hale) Faulkner. Gladys married James “Braddie” Smith in April 1951. They moved to Chicago where they lived for several years before moving back to the Corinth area. Gladys was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly. She sang for many years with The Faulkner Singers alongside her husband and brothers. Mrs. Gladys always had a love for children and spent 39 years babysitting many of her sweet babies. Visitation is scheduled from 5-9 PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 and from Noon till service time Monday, November 23, 2015 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Gladys’s life will be held at 2 PM, Monday, November 23, 2015 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, officiated by Rev. David Bledsoe, Rev. Billy Moody and Bro. Charlie Browning. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Faulkner Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kenneth Hicks, Colton Hicks, Bradley Bumpas, Rodney Hopper, and Wayne Null. Those left to honor Gladys’s memory include her sister-in-law: Helen Faulkner of Corinth, MS; her niece and caretakers: Donna Hicks and husband Kenneth of Corinth, MS; a great niece: Angel Bumpas and husband Bradley; a great nephew: Colton Hicks; her special great-great niece: Katelyn Bumpas; other nieces and nephews: Jeanette Brown and husband Edwin, Edward Wilson, Jr. and wife Kim, Judy Mullins, Lee Stafford, Daniel Yates, and Madison South; other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to her parents her heavenly family awaiting her arrival include her husband of 48 wonderful years: Braddie Smith and her brothers: John Faulkner and Kelsie Faulkner and a baby sister.
