Nedra Quillen Walker – Obituary

Nedra Quillen Walker, 99, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Friday, November 6, 2015, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka, MS. She was born October 10, 1916 to Floyd Forrest Quillen and Maude Burns Quillen. She was a faithful member of Rocky Springs United Methodist Church, and homemaker, and a helpmate to her husband of 68 years. Being a member of Harmony Homemakers and Harmony UMW gave her great joy because she was able to do quilting with the ladies. She was known and loved for her quick wit and joke telling. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 PM on Saturday, November 07 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jerry Holly, Terry Hester, Matthew Walker, Anthony Walker, Donnie Carson, Forrest Smallwood, Jake Walker, and Tyler Walker. Honorary bearers will be Steve Smith, Roger Wood, and W.T. Carson. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. She is survived by 2 sons – James Floyd “Pete” Walker (Jackie) and Earl Walker (Becky), both of Iuka; her stepmother, Betty Quillen, whom she talked to every day; 2 sisters – Mary Smallwood of Tuscumbia, AL and Algie Harris of Allsboro, AL; 6 grandchildren – Steven Walker (Renee’) of Littleton, N.C.; Matthew Walker (Melissa) of Iuka; Anthony Walker (Amy) of Guntown, MS; Shana Price (Lyle) of Huntsville, AL; Wendy Estes (Sean) of Mobile, AL; and Julie Diaz (Oscar) of Pearland, TX; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James L. “Pete” Walker; a son, Benny Wayne Walker; a sister, Inez McNutt; and her parents, Floyd Forrest and Maude Burns Quillen. Memorial contributions may be made to Rocky Springs United Methodist Church or the Iuka Baptist Church.
