Harriett-Williamson-1445876938Harriett E. Green Williamson, 88 of the Brashiers Chapel Community, Arab died Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Barfield Health Care, Guntersville.

Mrs. Williamson was born March 24, 1927 in Marshall County, the daughter of James Oscar and Annie Pesnell Green; she was the eighth child in their large family of 12 children.

Harriett was a loving, caring mother to her children and was a good homemaker. She spent her working career in service to others, first as a waitress in many restaurants and in her later years as a retail sales clerk. She loved to meet people and developed a host of friends during her life.

Harriett loved her home and especially loved working in her yard to make it beautiful. She seemed to have a knack for growing things and spent endless hours doing so. She also loved to share her plants with others. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and, always tried her best to provide for them and help them in any way she could.

She loved her extended family, her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews and was always happy to be among them during family reunions. Harriett loved to cook and to have family and friends sit at her table and enjoy a meal or just have a cup of coffee and visit. It was not uncommon to find a wonderful chocolate or coconut cake on her table if you stopped by to visit her. She loved her church, New Brashiers Chapel United Methodist and was faithful to attend as long as she could.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: James Leon and Sheila Chandler and Charles Harvey and Candy Williamson; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; four sisters and a brother-in-law: Clara Mae Mattison, Myra Bolding, Dorothy Holliday and Frances “Fran” and Tom Smith as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Harriett was preceded in death by her first husband, John Chandler, her second husband, Harvey Williamson, her parents, Oscar and Annie Green, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Reverend Mike Shirley, officiating. Burial will be in Brashiers Chapel Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
