ATHENS-Mildred’s Angels is a group established in memory of Mildred Ann Davis Grisham who died in 2013 from ovarian cancer. Mildred’s last wish was that her family would make others aware of this type of cancer. Her daughters work to raise awareness of this silent killer by sharing postcards every September to various groups, including us ladies at City Hall. The teal postcard shares Mildred’s story, the goal of the group, and the warning signs that could indicate ovarian cancer.

Mayor Ronnie Marks has proclaimed September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Athens. Mildred’s Angels are asking citizens to learn more about ovarian cancer and to promote awareness by participating in Teal Tuesdays. Those who dress up in teal or decorate in teal can share their photos for use on the city’s FB page by emailing Holly Hollman at hhollman@athensal.us.
