Funeral services for Lyman E. Townsend, age 88, are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, August 3 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Doug Norfleet officiating. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery.
Mr. Townsend, son of the late Dorsey and Ettie Mincey Townsend, died Friday, July 31, 2015 in Jackson. A lifelong resident of Lexington, member of the First United Methodist Church and retired owner of Townsend Plumbing and Electric he enjoyed many hobbies: fishing, hunting, restoring Model A cars, was a long time pilot and enjoyed flying.
Survivors include his sons: Lynn (Elaine) Townsend of Lexington and David (Tammy) Townsend of Collierville, 8 grandchildren: Shelly (Grady) Sanderson, Justin (Candy), Sarah, Brad, Clay, Katie, James and Carly Townsend; 3 great grandchildren: Kelly and Kinley Sanderson and Ashley McKenzie; a great great grandchild, Aubrey Smith; two sisters: Imogene Frye and Loy Lewis; Daughter in law, Terry Townsend; Brother in laws, Willard Stanfill and John Mathews. Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Sue Threadgill Townsend, son, Barry Neal Townsend; great grandchild, Brittney Sanderson, his sister, Lillie “Nancy” Stanfill and his brother Lonnie “Jeff” Townsend.
